Welcoming Students and Teachers Online: Creating Collaborative Online Learning Communities

Session 6: 10:30–12:00 PM, Zoom Room 10

Abstract

The global health pandemic has forced many organizations to adapt to remote learning for students and virtual collaboration amongst colleagues. This rapid response to distance learning presents some unique challenges and opportunities. In this session, we will explore how to curate an environment where students are engaged and supported in the new instructional setting, where staff are encouraged to innovate and build new skills, and where our programs are leveraging the power of the internet to transform adult learning. The session will include a tour of the award winning eLearn model that has been providing online adult education programming to students throughout Louisiana since 2014, including mistakes made, lessons learned along the way, and how our team is continuing to expand and enhance online instruction and support.
