Bridging the Pharmacy Tech Gap

Abstract

Moreno Valley Community Adult school currently has a Pharmacy Technician course and it has been identified that students were coming into class with deficits in their language and math skills. The goal of the Introduction to Pharmacy Course is to assist students bridge their learning gaps in the following areas: Medical Math Basics, Customer Service, Medical Terminology, Basic Anatomy and Basic Pharmacy Operations. The Introduction to Pharmacy Tech course is in the developing stages. Instructional modules are currently being designed incorporating various aspects of the Burlington English, Pharmacy Tech course topics, and other curriculum resources. Presently, this course will be launched internally within the MVCAS campus. The goal being that, after the curriculum has been fully implemented and refined, then this will be opened to the public domain via Moodle/OTAN websites.
