Building a Culture of Best Practices for Online Teaching and Learning to Support Student Success

Session 4: 1:00–3:00 PM, Zoom Room 2

How do you provide an atmosphere of best practices to help support the success of online students? See how Evergreen Valley College created sustainable resources, training & courses to develop a culture of best practices in online teaching & course development, while providing necessary training for all faculty during COVID challenges of this past year. This past year created challenges for institutions to ensure that all students would be able to receive quality online instruction. In this demonstration, you will be walked through how Evergreen Valley College planned and executed a strategy for developing resources and courses, facilitating training, and maintaining support for faculty. We would also like to highlight the new Certificate Program in Online Teaching and Educational Technology at Evergreen Valley College. The Online Teaching and Educational Technology certificate is designed to meet the growing needs of online educators in a wide variety of teaching sectors, including Adult Education. It is designed for both experienced educators and those interested in entering the field of online teaching and learning. The certificate program includes courses such as Online Course Development, Online Course Design, Creating Accessible Content, and Adopting and Integrating Open Educational Resources (OER). We will share the resources and process for training and course development to support the faculty and spend some time discussing ideas for sustainability.
