How to get Techie! Using free online technical applications to make virtual learning personal, engaging, and effective.

Session 4: 1:00–3:00 PM, Zoom Room 9

Abstract

How to get Techie! introduces the integration of several free online 21st Century technical tools. The workshop will share lessons and administrative tools currently being used by MDAE to enhance instruction and personal connection via technology in the learning environment. Bitmoji allows the opportunity to see ourselves and our students in a fun creative way that lessens the virtual distance experienced with Zoom, Google Classroom, and CANVAS. A voice recorder application allows shy students to be heard or a quick lesson reminder to be recorded. An image editor allows for the customization of photos for personalization and real-world lessons. Screencastify allows teachers to record instructions one time, giving students any-time access to instructions. The workshop will demonstrate and explain these tech tools, techniques, and strategies while allowing time for participant questions and interaction. Additional practical applications for Administrators, Office Staff, Career Transitions Support, and digital learning environments will be shown. The Google link will be provided to workshop participants so they can access then duplicate the Google Slide Sample Deck so that each participant may create further on their own. (For this you must have a Google email.) Once again we can see each other’s faces with a personal digital touch.
