Abstract

Four-Dimensional Education: Delivering Online Learning to Incarcerated Juveniles and Adults presentation for the OTAN Technology and Distance Learning Symposium will be an update of the presentation given by the presenters at the CAEP Summit 2020. Throughout the current presentation, the presenter has added explanations to questions posed at the CAEP Summit. The presentation will focus on the following issues in distance learning for incarcerated students: • Four-Dimensional Education as the foundation for online and distance learning classes at the Monterey County Jail (MCJ). • Discussion of the four “C’s” of 21st Century Learning Skills and how they apply to distance learning. o An additional fifth “C” for distance learning during Covid-19 • Introduction to Infinity Learning Maps, as a basis for meta-cognition • Historical Background of MCOE’s educational program at the MCJ o HSD o HSE o Workforce Readiness o Workforce Entry/Reentry o CTE • Focus on the process for preparing students to test for the Hi-SET • Components of the distance learning curriculum and how we use online curricula to deliver these. • Technology and connectivity: 2018 – 2020 • Technology and connectivity: 2020 – present • An in-depth look at current devices o ATLO o RACHEL • Focus on success and achievement • Question and answer session
