Improve and/or Polish Your Canvas Gradebook Skills

Session 3: 2:15pm-3:45pm (Friday March 01, 2024)

 

Description

Presenters will demonstrate how to use and master the Canvas gradebook, in particular, how to group and weight assignments. Additionally, presenters will demonstrate how to use the speedgrader, how to annotate student written assignments, and how to use rubrics to save time and make expectations clear to students. Additional skills will be demonstrated, including how to use Canvas to keep attendance records, and how to make a well-organized and fun-looking Canvas shell that your students will enjoy working with and be able to follow easily.

Johanna Gleason

San Diego College of Continuing Education

Johanna Gleason is an ESL instructor and the ESL Technology Coordinator for San Diego College of Continuing Education. She is also the Coordinator of CATESOL's Technology Enhanced Language Learning Interest Group and an alum of the U.S. Department of State Virtual Educator Program. Johanna has over 20 years of ESL teaching experience in 3 different countries.

Chris Vela Che

San Diego College of Continuing Education

Chris Vela Che has been an adult ESL educator for more than 10 years. Most of her teaching experience has been with low literacy to beginning high English language learners. She has been a frequent CATESOL and TDLS presenter and attendee since 2017 One of the things she enjoys about her job is finding ways to integrate digital technologies into her classroom in order to improve her students' learning experience and digital skills.
