Effective Practices for High Quality Online Teaching

Description

The presenters will outline five effective instructional practices for executing high-quality hybrid courses for beginning and intermediate ESL students, from onboarding, to frequent checking in, to formative assessment, and evaluation.Presenters will also provide plenty of examples of how they deliver effective teaching practices in their online classes.

Chris Vela Che

San Diego College of Continuing Education

Chris Vela Che has been an adult ESL educator for more than 10 years. Most of her teaching experience has been with low literacy to beginning high English language learners. She has been a frequent CATESOL and TDLS presenter and attendee since 2017 One of the things she enjoys about her job is finding ways to integrate digital technologies into her classroom in order to improve her students' learning experience and digital skills.

Katrina Tamura

MiraCosta College

Katrina has a Master's Degree and a TESOL certificate. She also has extensive teaching experience in Sa Diego and abroad. She has been a frequent CATESOL and TDLS attendee and presenter.
