Using Digital Literacy to Support Student Inclusion and Success

Description
Participants will learn how to promote digital literacy skills at their school site to create a strong foundation for new adult learners. Participants will hear about strategies that Corona-Norco Adult Education uses to assess students' digital literacy knowledge and prepare them for the technology they will use in the classroom. Preparing learners to integrate technology into their everyday lives is essential, and at Corona-Norco Adult Education, technology is at the forefront of instruction. Participants will be guided through a presentation and a live demonstration of Corona-Norco Adult Education's technology resources including the BurlingtonEnglish Student Orientation Courses which focus on student centered instruction on various digital literacy topics.

Marci England
Corona Norco Adult School
Marci England has worked in adult education since 2007 as an ESL Teacher and Program Coordinator being appointed Assistant Principal in 2022. Marci has led the school's Technology Support Team since its creation in 2018. Marci is an expert and a pioneer in just, equitable, inclusive practices in the adult education field at the state level. Her work in training adult educators across the state is noted as exemplary. She is passionate about integrating innovate practices in adult education.

Josie Ladle
Corona-Norco Adult School
Josie Ladle is an experienced ESL professional who has worked in private, university, community college, and adult education programs across the United States. She currently works for Corona Norco Adult School where she teaches contextualized ESL for the program’s CNA training courses. Josie has a Ed.M. in TESOL from Boston University.

Rebekkah Gomez
Burlington English
Rebekkah works as a Customer Representative/Teacher Trainer for Burlington English supporting programs in Southern California and Nevada. Rebekkah holds a Master's degree in TESOL from the University of Southern California--go Trojans! Before joining Burlington, Rebekkah worked as a TESL/TEFL instructor in language programs at the university level. She believes that there's great success in the field of education when diversity, equity, and inclusion are at the forefront of teaching practices.
