Making Math Approachable: Routines that Build Confidence and Fluency

Description
During this follow-along workshop, we will learn strategies to make math less intimidating and more engaging for students. Participants will explore approachable instructional routines that build fluency, confidence, and a sense of achievement. These routines are designed to help students believe they can achieve and not be afraid to fail. By the end of this session, participants will have ready-to-use tools and techniques to create a welcoming and supportive math classroom that empowers students to embrace challenges and achieve success.

I have been an educator for over 30 years and in adult education for over 10. I am a math specialist helping students succeed in math since my teens. Currently, I serve as the High School Program Coordinator at Corona Norco Adult School, where I was named 24-25 Teacher of the Year. With OTAN, I work as a Subject Matter Expert with expertise in Canvas, teaching with technology, and the California Adult Education Digital Learning Guidance. I am passionate about learning and perfecting my craft.
