Implementing two hours of tech usage as recommended by the Student Council

Session 2: 1:00pm-2:00pm (Friday March 06, 2026)

Description

To reduce the tech gap among students and to increase student retention, the student council was given a task. What do your kids attending K-12 receive that you do not in your adult classes? Students identified several but technology stood out. Due to the Student Council request, computers were purchased, increasing tech usage has now been included in multiple reports and all classes now have a two hour mandatory tech usage as recommended by the Student Council. A teacher has been assigned to manage the ESL lab, enter attendance for three online programs and go into the classroom to support the two hours of technology usage. This has led to an increase in technology usage, Northstar Digital Literacy Certifications, mandatory student email usage and teacher tech usage in the classroom.
