Challenges in Adult Education: Recruitment, Remote Testing and Retention
Session 2: 1:00pm-2:00pm (Friday March 06, 2026)
Description
Jefferson Adult Online: Mid-Year Review We are currently in the middle of the third year of the Jefferson Adult Online program. The curriculum includes ELA (Low Beginning through Advanced), a Communication course, and a hybrid CTE class. The program is entirely online, requiring in-person attendance only for initial registration and placement testing. Our main operational challenges are the "Three Rs": Recruitment, Remote Testing, and Retention. This analysis will focus on the specific obstacles we have faced this year, including attracting students without a physical presence, balancing test security with student equity for Remote Testing, and improving student Retention by combating isolation in the distant learning environment.
