Access to Impact:Equitable Learning for Adult and Justice-Impacted Learners
Session 7: 1:00pm-2:00pm (Saturday March 07, 2026)
Description
Adult learners with disabilities and incarcerated youth often face compounded barriers in digital learning, including limited access, restrictive technology policies, and instructional designs that overlook diverse learning needs. This interactive session explores how equity, accessibility, and instructional design intersect across adult education and justice-impacted settings. Using real-world scenarios, collaborative discussion, and guided reflection, participants will examine UDL-aligned strategies, accessibility considerations, and adaptable technology choices that support learners with cognitive, sensory, physical, and emotional disabilities in both community-based and correctional contexts. Emphasis is placed on flexibility, clarity, and learner agency while acknowledging security and policy constraints. Participants will leave with practical tools to design inclusive digital learning experiences that promote engagement, persistence, and learner dignity.
