Integrate Tech and Create Community in Collaborative Writing Activities

Collaborative activities give students the opportunities to build grammar skills and use newly-learned vocabulary in original and creative ways. Through images and videos, teachers can get students working together to construct text in engaging ways. Attendees will view and take part in select activities that have been successfully conducted online, which they can use in their own classrooms, whether they are teaching remotely or in-person.

This session will primarily focus on the new features and enhancements to Google EDU Workspace within Google Drive apps, Gmail, Chrome, extensions and more. By showing adult education staff how to use the new features and remind them of seldom used tools like ApDiSk, they can better equip their students to grow digitally beyond the classroom. Knowing the types of Google available along with all of the other new features will better equip teachers and students to interact, share, and use Google

Access, Equity, Outcomes with Canvas Learning Management System

This facilitated discussion will examine how Canvas LMS and the California Distance Learning Cooperative can provide choice that leads to access, equity, and outcomes for adult education students. Participants will examine how Canvas can increase enrollment and persistence, meet the needs of adult students, and lead to student and economic outcomes that positively impact the greater community.
