This workshop will showcase an adaptable structure that has engaged several ASE and ABE learners pursuing diplomas via distance learning. Using Wakelet, a user-friendly site with more visual appeal than Google Classroom, students are assigned weekly videos and readings on sites that track progress.

Instructional Strategies for a Virtual Classroom

The COVID-19 virus has forces classrooms to become a virtual classroom. This is new teaching environment for teachers and their students. However, there are similarities in teaching strategies between a ZOOM Meeting (virtual classroom) and face-to-face, as well as opportunities.

SARA: Remotely Assessing, Supporting, & Diagnosing Adult Learners’ Literacy Skills

Audience members will receive training for using SARA, a literacy assessment designed for adult learners. Currently hosted on CaptiVoice, SARA offers six subtests and provides immediate scoring once a student has completed a test.
