Retention and Teaching Strategies for Low Literacy Students in the Online World
Demonstration (90 minute)
Lindsey Helms
I began using WhatsApp as a way to communicate with students in my online class. I found that students were more likely to do homework and come to class if I sent them information via Whatsapp rather than through email or Remind. WhatsApp serves as an easy access point for students.

Setting the Standards: How to Bring the English Language Proficiency Standards (ELPS) to Life in Our Digital Classrooms
Follow-along Workshop (90 minute)
Kevin Belcher
In this interactive workshop, we will develop lesson strategies to elevate our digital EL instruction. These “next day” instructional resources will help make the ELPS work for your online classroom, increasing the engagement, community, and academic achievement of your class along the way.
